GILDENGATE HOUSE
OUTPOST Studios is an artist-run studio complex, based in Norwich, committed to providing affordable spaces for contemporary art practitioners in the eastern region. Since its founding in 2010, OUTPOST Studios has established itself as one of the largest studio providers for artistic activity in the East of England. OUTPOST studios are based in Gildengate House, Anglia Square, where it is currently occupied by more than 80 artists.

Created in 2022 by OUTPOST studio holders Anna Brass, Paul Fenner and Henry Jackson Newcomb, this survey compiles an impact report and data anaylsis of OUTPOST Studios and it's studio holders. OUTPOST Studios is an artist-run studio complex, based in Norwich, committed to providing affordable spaces for contemporary art practitioners in the eastern region. Since its founding in 2010, OUTPOST Studios has established itself as one of the largest studio providers for artistic activity in the East of England. OUTPOST studios are based in Gildengate House, Anglia Square, where it is currently occupied by more than 80 artists.
In 2023, a redevelopment bid of the site was accepted and the studio block will be demolished along with our neighbouring charities (Cherry Lane Studios, Welcome Wheels and the Norwich Men’s Shed) imminently.
Residencies and Project Space
Gildengate House Project Space is the location for the OUTPOST Residency programme. OUTPOST holds 3 members residencies and 2 creative programme residencies each year, an annual Studio Holders Show, regular events, and the Graduate Scheme exhibition in the Project Space.

Step Free Access
We regret that there is no step free footpath to the studios and therefore those requiring step free access must park/ be dropped off to visit.
By Car
There are 18 on site, step free parking spaces available at Gildengate House following this address: RCP Parking Ltd, Gildengate, Upper Green Lane, Norwich, NR3 1AX
A further 95 parking spaces are available at RCP Parking Ltd, Anglia Square Surface, Botolph Street, Norwich, NR3 1DZ, though this is not step free.

By Bike
A limited number of bikes can be stored inside the building or parked outside Betfred in Anglia Square
On Foot
If arriving on foot, the easiest access route is via the stairwell opposite Poundland in Anglia Square. At the top of the stairs turn left. During public events the grey double doors (step free) will be open. Otherwise access can be made via the green striped door (requires one step) using your keyfob or having booked an appointment.
