Cloud Or Tail explores sillage — the lingering trail of a scent—as a metaphor for memory and material residue. Using repurposed packaging and deconstructed garments, the work traces the transition from desire to obsolescence.

This project uses an amateur actor’s obsessive impersonation of Laurence Olivier to examine the contradictions and physical tolls of aspirational embodiment. Through film and darkroom prints of a rented costume, the work explores how we attempt to grasp at fading legacies and performative roles.

By tracking herring, whose migration routes remain free of any notion of national frontiers or allegiances, the project aims to trouble the concept of maritime borders. Studying how marine life is impacted by geopolitical divisions, herring views borders from three perspectives: the small-scale fishing communities, the fishing industry, and the schools of herring.
