George McGoldrick, My old Runescape account

31 March - 29 April

George McGoldrick’s practise consists of painting, sculpture and installation. The majority of which is inspired by English rural communities and histories, both old and new; witchcraft, boy scouts, village church flower committees. The Englishness of the work, and it's link to the countryside lends it a unique history, whereby a painting of a witch feels as related to the folkloric as is does to a man in the village making runic jewellery.

George McGoldrick, My old Runescape account

For his residency at Gildengate House, George McGoldrick produced a series of work consisting of four large papier-mâché paintings and works on paper. The works act as a documentation of an account that he held between the age of 12-14 on a fantasy online game called Runescape. The series of works essentially documents a vast amount of wasted time; yet this ultimately wasted period of his youth is still available to view in the form of these online achievements and items.
