It’s been a real pleasure to select this year’s Outpost Open Film and to see the breadth of practice across all of the films submitted. There was an abundance of energy and a sense that people felt free to pick up cameras and not be burdened by the history of film or any technical barriers. The work was refreshing for it. In the selection I made I was drawn to works that really felt like they made the most of the opportunities film and video gives you. Films that encapsulated time, image and sound to say something, nothing and everything in a captivating way. - Stuart Whipps
