Screening and conversation with Ellen Mara De Wachter

Interfacing will consist of a number of Nicholas Brooks’s past film works alongside sculpture and a presentation of new film Friendly Things from the Future, made on residency in Taiwan. Following the screening, writer and curator Ellen Mara De Wachter will be in conversation with the artist talking about a range of topics relevant in both their research and practices.

Nicholas Brooks is a London based artist working across film, sculpture and installation. He completed his MFA at the Slade in 2011 and has since exhibited at the Jerwood Space, the Zabludowicz Collection, MOT Projects and Bold Tendencies. His films have been shown in galleries and festivals worldwide, including the Garage Museum of Contemporary art, Moscow and the Reina Sofia, Madrid.

Ellen Mara De Wachter is an independent curator and writer based in London. She has held curatorial positions at the Zabludowicz Collection and the Contemporary Art Society and has taught at various institutions including the Royal Academy Schools, Royal College of Art and Newcastle University. Her writing has been published in exhibition catalogues and magazines such as ‘Frieze’, ‘Artforum.com’ and ‘Flash Art’.
